The objective of the trail was to evaluate the effectiveness of food attractants in the capture of adults of Anastrepha fraterculus on apple trees in Brazil. In all orchards evaluated the total fruit flies captured was greater in the traps baited with CeraTrap®, followed by Torula, BioAnastrepha® and red grape juice. The attractant of CeraTrap® is more effective in the period of pre and fruit harvest.

Mass trapping is being developed to control the fruit fly Anastrepha ludens (Loew) (Diptera:Tephritidae) in some citrus-growing areas of Mexico using a trap-lure pack composed of CeraTrap lure and a specific bait station (MS2). Trap-lure efficacy, trap density and cost ratio are crucial for broad implementation of this technique by growers. Under field conditions, the capture of A. ludens with plastic bottle traps was statistically superior to that of MS2 traps. The low cost of this trap has...

The South American fruit fly Anastrepha fraterculus (Wied., 1830) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is one of the main species of insect pests that cause damage to the fruit trees in the southern region of Brazil. CeraTrap ® has been responsible for 50.5% of A. fraterculus captured in the experiment, being more effective than the other attractants evaluated.

Mass trapping proved to be useful technique for the suppression of fruit fly populations in urban areas of the Province of San Juan. The trials carried out in the target area suggest that liquid retention system based on protein solution is convenient not only because of its trapping performance, but also for its reduced toxicity, relatively high persistence of the attractiveness, and low maintenance.

CeraTrap® (CT) is an attractant formulation of natural origin, based on a liquid protein obtained by an exclusive method of enzymatic hydrolysis, with strong attraction capacity for fruit flies and free of pesticides. The system functions thanks to a regular emission of volatile organic compounds. Due to this, the strongly attracted flies fall into the trap and as they are unable to escape, drown into the liquid and die.Electroantennogram (EAG) analysis were performed in order to measure an...
